Out With the Old In With the New – Pick-up Soccer

Coed Pick-up SoccerUnfortunately with the time change we lost enough day light to play outdoor on Tuesday evenings, but if you still want to get your fix, there’s a few new times and places to play pick-up.

Sunday’s at 3 pm at Rapho Township Community Park in Mt. Joy. This is an open pick-up session and the cost is free. There is a CASA game this coming Sunday (11/17/13) at 3, so there may be some people showing up after that. Pick-up at 3 pm should start again on 11/24/13.

There is also a group in Harrisburg that is playing indoor soccer Wednesday evenings at 8 pm and outdoor on Saturday mornings at 10 am. This is adult co-ed pick-up. There is a fee for indoor. To learn more follow this link. Harrisburg Area Co-ed Pick-up Soccer

As always make sure to check out our Pickup Soccer Page.

CASA is expanding their Labor Day Tournament to include an Over-30 and Over-40 division.  Please see below for info and registration instructions (registration is now open). The following are answers to previous questions:

1. If you don’t have a team send Eric your contact information if there is enough interest they will put together a tournament team.

2. We are only having an over 30 and over 40 division, woman are welcome to play, but we are not having a “coed” or “female” division. (maybe next year)

3. Most adult games should not conflict with youth games, if you have a child playing or you are a coach let me know and we will do our best to eliminate conflicts.

4. Must be over 30 (or over 40) before September 1, 2012.

Do You Have What it Takes to Play for the Union or City Islanders?

The Philadelphia Union and Harrisburg City Islanders have announced that they will be holding a joint tryout on December 20-21, 2010. The tryouts will be held at In the Net Sports Complex in Palmyra, PA. This is the home training grounds for the City Islanders.  Register on the City Islanders website: www.cityislanders.com

Philadelphia Union

“Our eyes are constantly open to identifying talent and this tryout is a terrific opportunity to evaluate a large number of players simultaneously,” said Philadelphia Union Coach John Hackworth. “Our partnership with Harrisburg enables us to pool resources with the goal of finding players who can compete within our player development structure, and ultimately with the Union first team. We look forward to seeing who turns out for this exciting two-day event.”

“Philadelphia is a first class organization and we are pleased to partner with them once again,” added City Islanders Head Coach Bill Becher. “I look forward to having the Union’s coaching staff here in Harrisburg and I believe that a joint tryout with franchises from different levels of professional soccer is a great way to find players who may be able to contribute to one of the respective teams. It should be a quality event. We have open tryouts each year and we’ve always found a player or two that have not only made our team, but made a measurable difference. I suspect this year will be no different.”
