PIAA Needs Soccer Referees – Lancaster-Lebanon Area

When the girls soccer program moves to the Fall in 2012, 20-25 additional referees will be needed to cover all the games. The Junior High programs will also be played in the fall. If you are willing and able to give back to the game, and have fun at the same time,  please join us.

Details on the process are spelled out on the PIAA web site, www.PIAA.org. The initial step is filling out the application form found on the web and submitting it with $30. PIAA will send you a rule book and instructions for taking the multiple choice test. The next test dates are June 6, 2011 and October 3, 2011. The nearest sites are Governor Mifflin HS (Reading) and Trinity HS (Camp Hill). Passing is 75%.

PIAA also requires all referees to obtain a current PA State Police background check, a PA Department of Public Welfare child abuse history report and a FBI federal criminal history record. Instructions for this are sent by PIAA with the results of the test. The whole process takes about of 2-3 months. This clearance is required by all school paid personnel that have contact with the students.

Once the requirements are completed, you need to contact the local chapter where you will be assigned games. The initial assignment is usually done about 2 months before the season. Many additional games are assigned later but it will probably take until the 2nd season before you will get a fuller schedule. Availability is critical. If you can do 4:00 games, opportunities are greater to pick up additional games.

Please help us give the student athletes the support and supervision they deserve. If you have any questions the web site doesn’t answer, you can call PIAA or ask any referee. We need your help and support.

Looking for High School Scores and Standings, Look no Further!

Someone asked today where they could find high school Lancaster-Lebanon League soccer standings and scores. I did some looking around and it really isn’t that easy to find. There are a few sites that have info about the league but the best one seems to be Lancsports.com. This site is for all sports in the Lancaster-Lebanon League. It’s not the most intuitive site, so here’s some help.

To navigate to the section about soccer go to the box with the dropdowns about half way down the page in the right column. You can choose boys or girls soccer and the section you would like to see.
