Never Stop Playing the Beautiful Game

I recently posted a the quote:
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw

Admittedly ‘borrowed’ from a Facebook friend, but I love it none the less. I’m a true believer in staying fit will help you live longer and feel better, physically and mentally. What a better way to do that than playing soccer the game you love. Some of the guys I’ve played pickup soccer with are in their 70s! Plus, there’s now a over 50’s league. I just hope I can still play when I’m that age.

This fall I haven’t been playing as much as I usually. There’s a number of reasons why: still trying to get back in shape after surgery (appendicitis) and a minor injury… I know excuses, excuses. Anyway, normally I play 3-4 times a week. I hear a lot of people complain that they can’t play more than once a week because they hurt so much from just that one day. Of course you do. If you only play or exercise hard once a week you are definitely going to hurt for a couple of days after. For me I feel much better when I play more often than just once a week.

So, let’s get out there and keep playing the beautiful! Do it often and let’s hope we can keep playing till the day we die.

How often do you play?
