Professional Soccer Returns to Clipper Stadium in Lancaster

harrisburg city islandersProfessional Soccer is returning to Clipper Stadium in Lancaster for two Harrisburg City Islanders home games this August.

Harrisburg will host a regular season game versus FC Montreal on Saturday, August 29 as the City Islanders look to gain a United Soccer League playoff berth.

Then 2 days later the Islanders will host an exhibition against the 2014 US Open Cup runner-up, the Philadelphia Union their MLS Partners from Philadelphia on Monday, August 31. The City Islanders a 4-4-1 record against Major League Soccer clubs in the U.S. Open Cup.

Both games will start at 7:00 PM. Gates will open at 5:30 PM.

All seats for these soccer events will be general admission. The cost will be $15 for the exhibition against the Union and $12 for the Saturday night game against Montreal. The games will feature several local soccer heroes for the Central PA area:

  • The former Warwick High School standout and National High School Player of the Year, the Union’s Andrew Wenger.
  • In addition to Wenger, the Union’s roster also includes Jimmy McLaughlin of Great Valley and former City Islanders star Sheanon Williams.
  • The City Islanders squad features area natives Garret Pettis, a forward from Lower Dauphin High School, who currently resides in Elizabethtown, midfielder Danny DiPrima of Dillsburg and former Pennsylvania Player of the Year Brett Jankouskas of Palmyra.
